You've built a lot. You're surrounded by people and things. By all means, it looks great. And you can't access the joy.
You can squeeze, and there's nothing left to give. The things that used to drive you aren't driving you anymore. It's not just mental overload. It's emotional dryness.
In this episode of the Breaking Chains Podcast, I'm sharing part two of emotional capacity, part of our larger series on building capacity in the four core areas. Last time we looked at what emotional capacity is and the hidden cost of being emotionally checked out. Today is the practical side: five shifts to rebuild when your heart isn't in it.
The answer is not to work harder or push harder. It's to honor the capacity you actually have, and pour it where it multiplies.
This Episode Is For You If:
In This Episode, We Talk About:
Powerful Quotes
"Stop demanding yesterday's capacity from yourself in today's season."
"You may not need to stop giving, but you may need to stop giving in certain places."
"Movement is medicine."
"You can love somebody. You can care about them. You can support them without being available for every single request."
"You can't give what you can't carry."
You don't have to rebuild everything overnight.
Start by asking where you still have the heart for something. Where is there still some desire? Follow it. Go to the places that bring you alive, because that wellspring of life will start to multiply your desire for life in other areas.
Steward what you have. Release the need to say yes to everything and everyone. Pay attention to what's draining your emotional capacity, and ask what you can release, reduce, renegotiate, or table for now.
Then choose two to three rhythms that will keep you grounded while you rebuild, so that when everything around you is shifting, your anchors aren't.
Sometimes the most loving and responsible thing you can do for someone else is to tell the truth about what you have available. And when you let trustworthy people support you, you get strengthened, and you can show up for others at a new level.
If you know you're headed into a season of transition and you want the support, structure, and accountability to build greater capacity for it, that's what our RoundTable and advisory are for.
